Hungover for Days

Man what a weekend!!! It took me a couple of days to recover from it. I didn't even blog monday, on the count that I couldn't look at my computer screen. It made me all fuzzy.... Like A-Hole?? And yesterday I couldn't think of anything to write about. I'll start from the beginning

Saterday night, WiggerSlam Sam and Krustin Timberlake came to visit me in Arnhem. We went to Luxor for some breakcore and beers. It was allright, but not nearly what I expected from Bong Ra. Anyways, after some beer and vodka we still had all the fun we came for. Around 3AM we headed home for some beers and pizza.

Zwart Licht - Definitie van Dopeheid

The day after, was the day of "Definitie van Dopeheid", which is one of the biggest dutch HipHop festivals this small country has to offer. It's quite the happening, 2500 hiphop enthusiasts and 42 different hiphop acts all on one day. We left for 013 Tilburg at 1PM. The train ride over to Tilburg was already a highlight. Lots of laughing and conversating, and the first beers ofcourse.
T Moon
Once we were inside we went straight to the bar just as planned. Our plan was to get drunk and then get drunk some more. In the meanwhile Timmietex was about to start his show in the Batcave (also known as the Sweatcave), this is the smallest stage in the 013. His showcase was pretty fun, and as always Timmietex cracks me up. Snaptuh!!?! Then it was back to the bar. Three "Halve Liters" please!!! Next up on the big stage was MO & Brakko. Winners of De Grote Prijs 2008, and one of my favorites of this year.

Food Break!!!
After a loud trip through the city of Tilburg, we got in line at a packed McD's, ordered some menu's and chewed em down whilst herassing some chick who was sleeping on the table. She must have passed out or something. I mean, who goes to sleep inside a McDonalds right? Anyway, we literaly ate our meals in 3 minutes or so. We did so because Zo Moeilijk was about to start their show. Since T Moon is a Moeiligan, he didn't want to miss out on their show. Enjoyed it, enjoyed the beers even more. But hé, that ain't no news.

Cartes
Checked out a part of Manu's show and after that Fresku. Which was good, i think?!? I wasn't really paying attention cuz them halve liters were making it kind of impossible. Which is a good thing considering that's what we came for. The serious party mode kicked in when my all time favorites came on stage. Kleine Jay & Cartes! I love their music and I'm a fan or their live shows. Why? I don't know, maybe it's because the are also from Brabant, but I think it's because the are not chagerijnig. I spoke with Cartes after the show, and congratulated him on the succes of their show by saying it was 'easily the best show' that day. I Also asked him what we could expect from the Bosschenaren. He told me about a mixtape soon and the new album in 2010. I'm looking forward to that! There will probably be a big ass release party, just like last time.

Meanwhile back at 013!! Spinal and Steen climbed up on stage to do their show. I still don't really get it?!? I mean, I know it's all one big act, but why do all the kids like it so much? Anyways, I drank more than I watched their show. I wanted to be fully energized to watch Zwart Licht. Which was one big explosion!! That's the best way I can describe their show. You just gotta love 'em! I mean look at the top picture of them on stage, together with the rest of the crowd. Says it all!!
After that, we checked Winne for a couple of minutes, but then we had to leave to catch the last train to Arnhem. This is where we met them boys from Elst. Had some good laughs with them on the train. One even made me accindentaly shoplift a coke, from the store at Tilburg CS. Oops.... My bad!! After one hell of a train ride back to arnhem, we ran into Shakira. One of the hosts of the day. The night ended with paint, that's all I can tell you. Here are some more pictures, for the whole set check my Flickr.

Shout Outs to Wiggerslam Sam, Krustin Timberlake, T Moon J, Bemmel Girls (Anouk, Kim, Eveliene-Anna), Bennie the Kid, Cartes, Marie-Louise and ofcourse them boys from Elst!!!! Luuk, Paul, Jasper Stan and Brian, I see You!! Am I forgetting someone??... I don't know, probably... If so leave a comment, well you can leave comments anyway.

"Ze willen dat het geld regent"

Got Gold?? ... I do!!

I Just got back from Amsterdam where I closed the deal. I e-mailed the now previous owner two times today. Once to say that I really really want it (which was pretty obvious to anyone who read my post yesterday), and another email with my final offer in it. He mailed me back in the afternoon, to say that the offer I made was sufficient. And that we could meet later today. So I left for the Dam around 4pm, together with the mony-man. We had to do some field research for the film involving subways. So Amsterdam was our first choice. Anyways I will continue. I arranged a meeting with the mystery seller at 7pm in front of the Smullers outside of Central Station. I was an hour early so I decided to call Barbarella, who was in the middle of helping a friend with her shopping spree. After a brief get-together with the "Queen of the Universe", I went by Rush-Hour for some Beat Dimensions. Then it finally was time to do business and get what I came for. We met at the pre-arranged spot and time. I checked the record and paid the man. Before I left to catch my train I asked him why he was selling it. His answer: I had two of them!!

Without further ado, I present to you:
Terilekst - Goudkoorts
This might not mean anything to you, but it means a lot to me. I've been looking for this record quite some time now. It was released in 2003 by Hoefijzer Tegen Kanus Records.
I almost caught one at 013 once, a couple of years ago. Terilekst himself threw one in the crowd during the Spacekees & Terilekst show at Definitie van Dopeheid IX. I missed it about an inch or 12.

Thanks to Robin (the previous owner) and of course Baron von Bietbauer, Mr Turrie ven Leks I am now listening to a dutch hiphop classic. Keep them bangers coming Turrie!!

Feelin kinda feverish....

And this time it's not about polaroids. I'm hoping to become the new owner of a record that I've been looking for, for a long time. The current owner is selling it on the internets, but he wants people to bid on it. I want to buy it directly from him, no bidding, no bullshit! I can even pick it up tomorrow since I'm in the neighbourhood anyways. So please mister, sell me your record!! I realize that it has no use telling you guys this, but I'm in a sharing mood today. The one thing I'm not gonna share with you is which record it is, just to be shure that Bam-A-Lot doesn't beat me to the punch. Although I don't really think he wants it as bad as I do. Speaking of "Mr. I Rub the Reset EP in your Face." He couldn't resist to wander into the blogosphere himself. Check it out here. This will cause me to be surfing the internets even more, and wasting precious time.

I'll keep you posted about the record .... in the meanwhile checkout gijskast.com for some amazing illustrations and more. This very talented dutch illustrator is getting a lot of work since he published the illustrated phone book called "Böhnhase, De Zwarte Gids." I love the way he uses raw and edgy black lines, and the coloration is done with a simple ballpoint or marker.

Check out the Volkskrant serie on his website, definitely one of my favorites.

Already holding the first working hand-coated samples in our trembling hands, we are pleased to herewith announce an epoch making cooperation between Polaroid (who can no longer resist the stir we are making) and The Impossible Project:

Late Night Special

It's late, but not too late to post some unnecessary bullshit ofcourse. So here goes nothing. I woke up this morning with a sudden urge to clean. So I cleaned up most of my messy room, did some loundry, then cleaned the kitchen (thoroughly) and took out the trash. After that I did some grocery shopping and cooked up some "Spaghetti a la Moi." The rest of the evening I watched the latest 4 episodes of my favorite show, although I already saw them 2 times, so this was the third time. Only this time my main man on the Rappardstraat, The T was there too. After that we played Skate on PS3, which is to my opinion, the best skateboard vidgame there is. Anyways, I'm doing alright if I say so myself. Besides being a little tired, I'm still laying off the greenery, and makin moves to make our film a succes.

The painted bricks from last week

I want to do a big shoutout to Mr. Swartz aka "Swatie" aka "from the Chandellar" aka "I make a Nolly Heel look like peanuts" aka "Mr. I roll my blunts fat not flat" aka "I never get tired of Bar-B-Que" aka ... oh well you get the picture. Me and Mr. Swartz are both big Guy Ritchie fans. Once, we watched "Snatch" two times in a row and for the fifth time that week. He's one of those dudes I can chill with on a daily basis without getting tired of. His birthday was last friday, Happy Birthday son!!! I'm sorry I wasn't there my man. This one's for you.

In school we had a photo asssignment this week, in which had to recreate a picture. This is the result.
I'm sorry that I can't show you the original to compare it with. But I assure you, this one is much scarier. On the count that it is me in the photo and not some actor or model.
This was it for my late night special. I'm of to bed, to dream about some weird shit probably. I'll tell you all about that some other time.

I paid Jay

My monhtly vinyl budget has just been cut in half. After paying Jay, and keeping his legacy alive, I'm listening to "Jay Stay Paid." Bobbin my head to some spacecowboy shit. Just thought I should let the internets know I'm makin my way through vinyl land to end up in wax heaven, or maybe Polyvinyl chloride hell. I certainly don't hope that's the case, but who knows, maybe Satan is a bad ass DJ. Anyways just tellin you and yours about my latest addiction. Should you also have such an addiction, comment me about some good rehab clinics or ways lay off the vinyl. There's one thing I'm sure of, I ain't going cold turkey.

Preproduction, Hunting and Laughing

It's been a while... I've been very busy at school. Still working on the film. Revising the screenplay for the 11th time, looking for locations, finding actors. Its crazy enough that I'm working late almost every day, so when I get home I'm not really in the mood for blogging. But there is good news too!! I've got a new gadget. Now I can post anywhere at anytime. Unfortunately my internet access starts at the end of this month. So I've got to make do with what I got until I'm connected. Anyways.. to continue my story about the film, I've planned 2 auditions, 1 this up coming week and another one next week. There are about 20 actors and actrices coming to the auditions. It's really exciting but also kind of intimidating. But the victory of the week is definitely the fact that I hussled my way in to the Palace of Justice. I've talked to some people there from Press and Communication and the are allowing me to film a scene there. Never expected it to go this fast, but it's on...

My vintage hunt from last week got me some new old headphones.

After an hour of youtubing (is it verb, yes it is) I found this again.

And part two of course.

Hahaha "Het zijn kinderlokkers!!"
Kid Sublime is one of the most sober hiphop artist out there. The last I've heard from him is 'Rappin Blak' a solo album released in 2008 on the dutch label Dopeness Galore.

That's it for today, I'm of to paint some bricks.
